Ride Against Traffick 2014

Post 105 of 182

This Saturday morning I will begin biking across Korea, from Busan to Seoul (500+km, or 300+miles), to raise awareness of human trafficking and to raise support for two causes in Korea that are serving/protecting those vulnerable to being trafficked. I will be joined by about 45 riders and our trip will cover five days (September 6th – 10th). 50% of the money raised will go to Oak Tree Project, the scholarship/mentoring program I help direct for Korean orphans wanting to attend college (99+% of the support given to Oak Tree Project goes straight to the students). The other 50% will go to House of Hope, a rehabilitation center for women who have escaped the sex industry in Korea. These are two very worthy causes! All of us riders are paying our own way. We are all committed to the cause of riding against trafficking!

Sky and her dad will be helping drive the support vehicles. My fellow staff member Jee Lee, who has been serving full time at an orphanage here in Korea since 2008, will be among the riders. Also among the riders will be Jojo, a girl who grew up in the orphanage Jee serves at. Jojo graduated from high school a couple years ago and is now on her own and has struggled a bit to get by. She in between jobs right now, uncertain of her future.

Cool Story: Jee went to America to visit family earlier this year and brought Jojo with her. Jojo was ministered to deeply by Jee’s family as she stayed with them for a few weeks. She had never been in such a family environment before. Jee’s parents encouraged her, affirmed her, looked after her, and even disciplined her. Jee noticed a change in Jojo after they returned to Korea. Jojo now seems close to accepting Christ after receiving all the love and affirmation from Jee’s family. Praise the Lord for how her heart was stirred by Jee’s family!

As Jojo will be riding with us from Busan to Seoul as a part of Ride Against Traffick, our prayer is that as she spends time with us and with the other God-loving riders that her heart will open up even more to God and that she will accept Christ in her heart. There is power in the family of God!

Please consider sponsoring one of the riders. Your support will go to worthy causes and we will be encouraged by knowing many people are behind us rooting us on. Even just a little given in support encourages us. =)

If you are in Seoul, there will likely be a special showing of a documentary on human trafficking at Onnuri Seobingo Church on Wednesday night, September 10th. I hope to update with an exact time and with more information soon.
