About CQM

Why should people pray for Christ’s return? Here is my story…

As my time in prayer has increased over the years and I have been set free of past guilt and earthly attachments, one of the prayers that the Holy Spirit has increasingly put on my heart is: “Come, Lord Jesus… return and make the hurting stop.” God has opened my eyes to more and more of the pain and hurt that is in this world. As I have grown deeper with different people in my fellowship at college I have realized they carry scars and wounds that, although they try to hide them, continually cause hurting. As I pray for my friends and for the wounded and oppressed, I yearn for Jesus to return; only then will the hurting completely stop. I remember being in Cambodia in 2004. I saw many amputees in that country, victims of land mines planted in past wars. The number of amputees in the country is so great it can become numbing. But I remember one day walking through an old temple and seeing a young girl sitting on the ground begging. She had a stub for her right ankle, a stub for her left knee, and a stub for her right wrist. She sat on the ground with her left hand out and her head looking down in shame. My heart immediately broke. I realized that this was likely her life, sitting in that spot begging every single day. Probably a family member would come every now and then to carry her to a bathroom or to a bed, but otherwise her life was just loneliness and begging. I wanted to speak to her and encourage her, but I did not know the language. I wanted to at least look at her and give her a smile of hope, but her shame would not let her look up. All I could do was give her some money and move on. I do not want to have to move on anymore. My prayer is for the fulfillment of Matthew 24:14, “And this Gospel of the kingdom will be preached to the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.” I long for salvation to be offered to all and for Christ to return. God’s love is so great that He will not return until every ear has heard the message of the cross. I long for God to fix this broken world; for there to be no more orphans, widows, no more abused or neglected children, no more guilt or struggles. I long for when we can simply praise God and not have to worry about the other parts of the Lord’s Prayer (no more having to ask God to return, no more having to cry out to be touched by Him, no more sin to have to repent of, no more temptation to need protection from). I have committed my life to God that wherever I am, whatever He has me do, my aim will always be the fulfillment of Matthew 24:14 as I hope for His glorious return. Revelation 21:4, 22:17, and 22:20-21 are other Scriptures that I am continually in prayer for the fulfillment of.

I truly believe that as Christians begin to offer up such prayers to God, they will gradually be awakened to what is going on in the world. Their prayers will allow the Holy Spirit to move more freely within them and around them, guiding them to where God wants them to be and using them to prepare the way for Christ’s second and final return. Jesus tells us in Luke 17:22 that His disciples will long to see Jesus. He then tells the parable of the persistent widow and, in Luke 18:7, Jesus promises that God will bring justice to those who cry out for it day and night. He says that God will respond quickly if we continually pray.

Many Christians long for the days where North Korea, China, and other parts of the world will become open for this to happen. Sadly, if these countries were to open, most of these same Christians would not be prepared at all to go. Yet all we need to do is to pray for awareness in how God wants us to be used. And as we pray the Holy Spirit will guide us, strengthen us, teach us, and prepare us. Jesus says in John 3:8: “The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.”

God loves us and will never let us down or put us somewhere that we cannot be used. Simply by praying and listening to the Spirit, we may begin to discover the amazing plans that He has for us; plans that will usher in His kingdom and bring true justice and true love to this earth.

Come Quickly Ministries is just beginning. A website is at the very beginning stages of construction. Currently there is a small group of members that are meeting monthly in Northern Virginia to pray together. Our vision and hope is that gradually more and more people will join the prayer ministry and that soon there will be prayer groups around the world interceding together for Christ’s return and for God to show them how they are to be used.

If you would like to join the ministry or receive updates about it, please e-mail us at comequickly@gmail.com.
