A Key For Being Blessed (and Oak Tree Project sharing)

On Sunday during a prayer meeting before service, one of my orphanage ministry staff Mijeong Song was leading and she asked if anyone in the room needed healing. She then asked if anyone needed wisdom or direction. And then she asked if anyone needed refreshment. Different people raised their hands each time, expecting that they would receive prayer or just acknowledging their need. Mijeong then surprised us by telling us that sometimes we don’t have because we don’t act. She then read from Isaiah 58…

Isaiah 58:10-11 – If you pour yourself out for the hungry and satisfy the desire of the afflicted, then shall your light rise in the darkness and your gloom as the noonday. And the Lord will guide you continually and satisfy your desire in scorched places and make your bones strong; and you shall be like a watered garden, like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail.

Throughout Isaiah 58 there is a clear connection between doing justice and being blessed by God. For us to just sit around and expect God to bless us without doing anything is like never exercising but expecting to be healthy. If we aren’t acting out of God’s heart, then can we really say we are connected to Him? God’s heart is clearly for the oppressed, the broken, and the needy. As we demonstrate justice by loving and helping such people then we can pray with confidence for God’s guidance, blessing, healing, and refreshment.

Oak Tree Project is an opportunity to help the oppressed. It is a scholarship/mentoring program for Korean orphans who want to attend college. I had the privilege to share at New Philadelphia Church this past Sunday about the program and how God has been working. Please be blessed by it!

If you would like to be a prayer supporter for the program, then please e-mail us at OTPKorea@gmail.com and you will receive our monthly prayer update. If you’re interested in supporting financially, then please go to give.oaktreeproject.com. The program’s website is www.oaktreeproject.com.

Micah 6:8 – He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?
